No "Happy Clappy Prayer" by Gay Bishop

Grieved? Outraged? Offended? Aghast? All of the above? We should be, and not just a little bit, either!

I just read an article posted on Newsmax (click here) about the "first openly gay Episcopal bishop" offering a prayer at an inaugural event this weekend.

When Warren (whether you agree with his inclusion in the inauguration or not) was asked by Obama to give the invocation, gay-rights groups rose up with criticism and claimed it was important that they see their minority group represented in some way.

The article says ...

Clark Stevens, a spokesman for the inaugural committee, said Robinson was invited because he had offered his advice to Obama during the campaign and because of his church work. When asked whether Robinson was included to calm the Warren complaints, he said Robinson is "an important figure in the religious community. We are excited that he will be involved."

But that's not the part that is so unsettling. Robinson said "he doesn't yet know what he'll say, but he knows he won't use a Bible." He went on to be quoted as saying, "While that is a holy and sacred text to me, it is not for many Americans. I will be careful not to be especially Christian in my prayer."

Huh? Well, maybe it's good he admitted his prayer wasn't going to be "especially Christian" since he openly admitted to compromising, being persuaded by popular opinion rather than the Word of God. But, then, anyone who adds to and takes away from the Word of God in order to justify his/her sinful lifestyle would have no problem not being "especially Christian" in his/her prayer.

The world is so blinded and it seems lust (the counterfeit) rather than love (the genuine) is what motivates most people. The enemy has succeeded, and continues to succeed, in deceiving even the most well-meaning people who haven't built their lives on the Solid Rock, Jesus Christ, as their Foundation. All else is sinking sand.

Just to make myself clear ... I do not hate nor am I against gay people. I am against the sin they practice and the lies they propagate when they twist the Truth to make it fit the lust of their flesh rather than laying their sin at the foot of the Cross and allowing the Lord to deliver them from the enemy's snare.

Lord, how long will you extend Your merciful love toward us ... we are so undeserving. Have mercy on this nation; come and heal our land. Amen.
